The Delhi government on Friday moved the Supreme Court challenging the constitutionality of the ordinance on control of services, saying it is an 'unconstitutional exercise of executive fiat' that attempts to 'override' the top court and the basic structure of the Constitution.
The resolution condemns additional Chinese provocations, including China's use of military force to change the status quo along the Line of Actual Control, construction of villages in contested areas, publication of maps with Mandarin-language names for cities and features in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, and expansion of Beijing's territorial claims in Bhutan.
The US "continues to monitor actions taken to curb such extremist groups as Lashkar-e-Tayiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and others. These groups pose a serious threat to Pakistan, the region and the US."
Hinting that there were 'vested interests' among India's traditional weapon suppliers, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Defence James Clad said these elements did not want a change.
Citing assaults from hackers on its computer systems and China's attempts to 'limit free speech on the Web', Google in a statement said on Tuesday it would stop cooperating with Chinese Internet censorship and consider shutting down its operations in China.
"Some of the fears are exaggerated," and added, "some of the training turns out to be sort of cadet level. Some exchanges don't lead to a lot. I think we just need to have a realistic sense of what this is," Boucher added.
The US discusses the Kashmir issue with India and Pakistan, but it has to be ultimately resolved by both the countries with "active involvement" of Kashmiris, a top American official has said. "We understand the importance of the Kashmir issue to both Pakistan and India, and it is something that we do discuss with both countries," the assistant secretary of state for public affairs P J Crowley said at a news briefing.
Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher ruled out any change in American policy after the polls.
Hotels Malari Inn and Mount View, which have developed more cracks, will be demolished on Tuesday.
The Assistant Secretary of State said trade and agriculture is a major pillar of Indo-US relationship.
